annoyance of GM catographer
I am getting mad with the GM title, I am currently at 97%.
I was orginally at 76 percent, in order to get the title, I have redone all mission+bonus, for some missions I have to do several times becasue the group sucks.
Sometimes as soon as I have done the mission I found I missed a very lttle spot I didn't reveal, so I have to spend another 2 hours on the mission again just for the little spot. Actually I have been redoing, re-running the map for many many times but I still only got 97%
When I compare the map with those 100% revealed,I found that I have to put another several hours to redo some missions again just becasue I didn't walk "edge" enough to reveal the map!!!!!!! But those spots I am sure can't contribute to the 3% map revealed.
I have spent time much more than developing two lv20 characters with all missions done, and I will need more time for the GM title, this drives me mad.

Ahhh...but if it wasn't hard to get, it wouldn't be special. Good luck with your remaining 3%.

Exactly. You get that Grandmaster title just to special, and if anyone could become a Grandmaster easily, why would it be special?
I'm at 96% myself right now, but I really don't mind, slowly, I'm getting there. Just look at 100% cleared maps, and look what's the difference between them. Most of the time, I have to complete an entire mission just for another 0.1% of the map, but I guess everyone who wants this title has to go through.
And like cointerm said, good luck with the remaining 3%

Well I, like you, had about 80% of the map unlocked. I wanted to get the Master title which took me much longer than expected, since in my case, some of the missing areas were hard to find and hard to get there (eg missions).
Finally I made it, got the title and am very happy about it.
From my point of view there is a very small border between being a veteran player and show your experience and beiing mad. Considering that it was already very hard and time consuming to get the Master title and considering that getting the GM basically means to encirlce each and every one area in the whole game, including missions......

97% aint annoying... once you get to 99.5% (or even 99.9%) then you can start to get pissed.
Just get over having to spend lots of time on it. Like Maxie said, if it was easy to get, it wouldn't be as special. This title has taken me days to get, i went back to ToA yesterday to find out it was practically deserted... i hadn't even realised! So far i've gone through Thunderkeep 6 times with henchman in the last week, (2 attempts on bonus, 2 to reveal a small area i missed, 2 Jalis died). Makes you wish you were thorough when you did it the first time
I started at about 7x% too, i didn't even realise Twin Serpent Lakes and Dry Top existed till this title appeared, just work on it, or combine exploring missions with doing the bonus. Gets annoying when you find out you missed 2 bits on Iron Mines and have to run halfway up, explore it on the easy side, then run all the way round to get a tiny bit on the mursaat side just becuase i missed it when i did the bonus, but its fun

99.2, and getting frustrated... just hang in there like the rest of us.
I would highly advise getting the map off of here for a 100% shot, it has really helped me personally.

I have to agree that this title is extremely hard to get! I am currently at 98.9% and like some of the other posters have completed missions and bonuses several times just to gain that additional 0.1%. It does become a little frustrating though when you simply just dont know where to look any more! LOL
I have not played any Factions at all since I started going for this title, but on the plus side, my ranger's Factions pet crab has levelled from lvl 5 to lvl 20 whilst accompanying me on my mapping journies.

When titles got introduced I was very surprised to find that I had only 93.6% on my warrior, which whom I had been cartographing for a long time already. Getting those last 6.4% took me about 30 hours of game time with that char, during which I died about 40 times. Belive me when I say that is more than it sounds. Yes, it is a lot of tedious work. Even more reason to do it!

For anyone viewing this thread who's going after the GM Cartographer title, I just wanted to mention that there's a sizeable thread filled with tips and maps on this subject in the Tyrian Explorers' League subforum. Here's the link: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3021985. If you're finding yourself stuck with just a few more % points left to go, you may be able to get some ideas of where to search by paging through the posts in that thread. It highlights a number of oft-overlooked areas like the Dunes bonus, various areas in the Maguuma jungle and Shiverpeaks, and some hidden nooks in various towns and outposts. Take a look if you haven't already!
